SEO in Kenya should get you found for the searches that end in a sale, not just traffic.
On this page
SEO has a bad name in Kenya and it earned it. Monthly reports full of impressions. Rankings for phrases with no commercial value. No connection to whether the phone rang. We do it differently, and slower, and we say so up front.
What you get
- The technical base first Can Google crawl it, index it, and load it fast on a phone. If this is broken, writing is wasted effort.
- A map of real demand What people type, grouped by what they want. Not a keyword list. A decision about which pages should exist.
- One page per commercial intent This is where most Kenyan sites lose. They have one services page trying to rank for nine different things.
- Content that answers something Cost, process, timing, comparisons, what is included. The questions people ask right before they buy.
- Local signals Your map listing, consistent business details, and pages that make clear where you work.
- Authority earned, not bought No purchased links. Short term tricks are a liability on something you plan to own for years.
- Reporting on enquiries Rankings are an input. Enquiries are the outcome.
What SEO services Kenya looks like when it is done properly
Here is one we built. Look at where the price sits, where the WhatsApp button sits, and how little you have to think about.

Questions
How long until it works?
For a new site, first movement around month three and a clearer picture by month six. Local search can move in weeks. Anyone promising page one in 30 days is selling you something.
Why a six month minimum?
Because a three month engagement takes your money and stops before the work could reasonably have produced anything. That would be dishonest.
Do I need this if I run ads?
They do different jobs. Ads stop the moment you stop paying. Search keeps working. Running ads first is often smart, because within weeks it tells you which words are worth years of effort.
Does search still matter with AI?
Yes, and it is not enough on its own. A Semrush study of ChatGPT topics found normal domain level SEO strength predicted who owned a topic only about half the time. Strong search work helps. It does not automatically carry over.
What SEO means for a Kenyan business in 2026
SEO means being found on Google when someone is ready to buy. Not likes. Not followers. A person typing “price”, “near me” or “in Nairobi” has already decided. Good SEO makes sure they find you first.
In Kenya, Google handles about 9 in 10 searches. Most of those searches happen on phones. Many end without a click, because Google shows the answer, the map or an AI summary straight away. So SEO today is not only about blue links. It is about the map, the AI answer and the page that loads fast when someone finally taps.
How we do SEO, step by step
- Find the money searches. We use Google Keyword Planner and Search Console to find what Kenyans type when they are close to buying.
- Map one page to each search. One page cannot rank for ten different searches. Each product or service gets its own page.
- Fix the technical SEO. Speed, mobile layout, indexing, sitemaps and structured data. If Google cannot read the page, nothing else matters.
- Write for people, then for Google. Clear headings, real prices in shillings and short answers to the questions buyers ask.
- Build trust signals. Your Google Business Profile, reviews and a few real links from Kenyan sites that matter.
- Measure every week. What people searched, what they clicked and what we changed. You get it on WhatsApp.
SEO results you can check yourself
We do not hide behind reports full of jargon. Every SEO number we share comes from Google Search Console, which you can open yourself. One of our medical equipment clients is now seen 3,580 times a week on Google, with zero ads. Four client sites that are less than two and a half months old have brought in more than KSh 10M in quote requests.
SEO takes time to compound, but the first wins often show up within weeks: pages getting indexed, the map listing showing up and the first enquiries from search.
SEO versus Google Ads
Google Ads stop the day you stop paying. SEO keeps working. We advise against ads until your page already ranks on page one, because new pages pay more per click and send buyers to a page that is not ready to sell. Once your SEO is strong, ads cost less and convert better.
